Child Safety Standards

Last updated October 26, 2026

These are the child safety standards for Aeternum, the app made by Aeternum Corp. for iOS, Android and the web at app.aeternumproject.com. Aeternum has zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE) and for child sexual abuse material (CSAM). Both are strictly prohibited. This page explains what that means, how to report a concern, and what we do when we learn of one.

These standards are part of our Community Guidelines and sit alongside our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.

Families and Children on Aeternum

Aeternum accounts are for adults aged 18 and over, and our User Licence Agreement doesn’t allow anyone younger to use Aeternum. Families are at the heart of Aeternum, though, so children appear in it all the time. Parents and grandparents share photos and videos of birthdays, first days of school and holidays, and an adult can keep a managed profile for a child they look after. The adult runs that profile, and the child does not sign in to it.

Everyday family photos like these are welcome. What is never allowed is any content or behaviour that sexualises, abuses or exploits a child.

What Is Prohibited

A child is anyone under 18. All of the following are prohibited everywhere on Aeternum, whether shared with one person or with many:

  • Child sexual abuse material (CSAM): any photo, video, audio recording, drawing, text or other material that shows or describes a child in a sexual way, whether real, edited, drawn or made with AI.
  • Sexualising a child: sexual comments about a child, or sharing an ordinary photo of a child with sexual comments, captions or intent.
  • Grooming: building trust with a child, or with their family, in order to sexually abuse or exploit the child.
  • Sextortion: threatening to share sexual images of a child, or pressuring anyone for such images, money or anything else.
  • Trafficking: advertising, arranging or encouraging the sexual exploitation of a child, online or in person.
  • Promoting any of the above, including links to it, instructions for it, or material that presents it as acceptable.

How to Report a Concern

In the app: tap … on a memory and choose Report Memory, tap … beside a comment and choose Report Comment, or open a person’s profile, tap … and choose Report, followed by their name. Choose the reason that fits best and add a short note saying it concerns a child. Reports are private, and we never tell the person you reported that it was you.

By email: write to support@aeternumproject.com with Child Safety in the subject line. You don’t need an Aeternum account. Tell us where you saw it: whose profile, memory or comment it was, and roughly when.

Please don’t copy, screenshot, download or forward the material itself, even to us. Telling us where it is is enough, and sharing it can itself be a crime.

To the authorities: you can also report directly, in Canada to Cybertip.ca and in the United States to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children’s CyberTipline. If a child is in immediate danger, please call 911 or your local police first.

What We Do

When we learn of CSAM, or of any other sexual abuse or exploitation of a child on Aeternum, we:

  1. Remove the material from Aeternum.
  2. Permanently ban every account that shared, sought or sexualised it, or took part in the abuse or exploitation.
  3. Report it to the Canadian Centre for Child Protection through Cybertip.ca and, where it involves the United States, to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children through its CyberTipline.
  4. Notify the police, as Canadian law requires, keep the related information for as long as the law requires, and cooperate with law enforcement.

Compliance With Child Safety Laws

Aeternum Corp. is based in Alberta, Canada, and offers Aeternum in Canada and the United States. We comply with the child safety laws that apply to us, including Canada’s mandatory reporting law for internet services and the reporting requirements for online services in the United States.

Child Safety Contact

Our designated child safety contact can answer questions about how we prevent child sexual abuse and exploitation on Aeternum and how we meet our legal obligations, and receives reports from the public and from law enforcement.
